Eleanor and Henry took off this week for the beach! We had a great vacation with family down in Florida. Both kids really enjoyed the warm weather and our time at the pool and the beach. Eleanor really took to the pool and was very excited to have figured out how to do handstands under water! Henry loved the beach and building great sandcastle structures with Grandma. Both kids enjoyed our half day boat ride, especially when some dolphins showed up and played in our wake. Henry was especially excited to tell everyone about this first time that he saw dolphins on a boat “in real life”. We also enjoyed lots of card playing – a few new games this year including Skip Bo and Rat-a-tat Cat, and Henry even joined in a game of hearts as part of a team of three. That hearts game was particularly impressive for the age range of its players, from 5 to 96.
We had a great New Year’s evening, complete with a kid friendly beach ball drop at 8:00 PM local time. What a great idea! We had to leave a bit earlier than planned though, because a glow stick bracelet broke and sprayed glow-juice all over Eleanor’s face – giving us quite a scare. She was a trooper though, and one phone call to poison control and 15 minutes in the shower and everything turned out fine.
