This weekend cousin Jack and Grandma and Grandpa came into town for a visit. Uncle B and Aunt Breanne did some fantastic planning, and we ended up with a fun filled weekend. Saturday started with the annual river dieing. It was pretty cold this year, but thankfully the sun was out and shining. A quick stop for breakfast and we were off to visit the Build a Bear store. Eleanor and Henry had never been, and Jack was excited to show them how it worked. Eleanor built a pink bear with a striped skirt, and she hasn’t stopped carrying it around with her since. Henry built a golden puppy with a St. Patrick’s Day shirt, and has slept with it each night since. So I’d say Build a Bear was a success! Next we visited the Illinois Sports Museum, which had some fun exhibits and computer simulations. Both kids liked putting their new stuffed friends up to pose as famous athletes.
The final activity of the day was indoor skydiving! Eleanor and Henry were both excited and nervous about it, but thy both did great. Eleanor had a huge smile on her face the whole time, and Henry really liked it up until the point where the instructor took him up for the “high flight”, which was perhaps a bit too much. We ended the day with some dinner and playtime at Uncle B and Aunt Breanne’s house.
On Sunday, we had a relaxing breakfast and then some playtime, and then headed out to watch Uncle B play in his hockey game. Henry and Jack were excited to see him all dressed up in his pads. Eleanor and Mom had to skip out to go to a birthday party – and Eleanor got to play her first game of Laser Tag. She was a bit uncertain getting equipped, but ended up loving it!
Phew…what a weekend! Now, I think we need another weekend to recover!
