Snow!?!

Eleanor and Henry had a fun week playing in all the unexpected snow – only our second big snowstorm of the season. Unfortunately, it all melted before the weekend, so we didn’t get to make a big snowman. Eleanor had a field trip this week to the aquarium – her class is doing a unit on polar animals. She also has her first big home project, making a diorama of an Emperor Penguin habitat. Henry’s class is working on a plant unit, and he is very excited to tell us each day how much progress his sunflower is making. So far, he has two shoots sticking up, and he can see the roots of a third.

We had a relaxing weekend at home – on Saturday each of the kids had a birthday party to go to, and on Sunday we had a fun long park outing. We discovered a new game, the family slide! Eleanor and Henry couldn’t get enough – with each of us taking turns leading the whole family down the twisty slide in a tangled clump of humans, giving each other inadvertent static electricity shocks the whole ride down. We also found a pop-a-shot at our lunch restaurant, and Henry and Eleanor loved passing the time trying to shoot some hoops. I think this summer we need to work on our ball skills a bit!
