After some fun sleepovers with Mimi, Papa, Lala and Saul, we headed out to Latourell Falls for a fun day hike. The kids were a bit hesitant at first, but they really enjoyed it. It was a perfect length, and the falls were amazing. The next day it was off to the OMSI, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. They had a great hands on section that the kids loved, and then we did a submarine tour that was very fun. Henry was more impressed with the sub than Eleanor, but even she admitted that it was more fun than she thought it would be. We ended with dinner out at an Indian restaurant – the first time the kids have had Indian! The adults loved it, but not so much for the kids – everything was a bit too spicy. Next up was Mt Tabor, a beautiful urban park in Portland. By accident, we arrived on the one day per week that it is closed to car traffic, so the kids had a great time scootering on the roads up and down the big hills. That afternoon, we escaped the heat with a round of mini golf at an indoor glow in the dark course.
For our last day, we decided to do another hike, this time to Bridal Veil falls. It was shorter than the earlier hike, which worked out well because the kiddos were less excited about it, but the falls were beautiful and well worth the effort. Then, since everyone loved it so much the first time, we hit up another glow in the dark putt putt course. The kids were starting to get the hang of it, and by the end everyone had at least one hole in one. What a great trip!
