Sleepover!

Eleanor and Henry had a busy weekend including our first hosted sleepover! Eleanor’s friend Lincoln stayed over and they had a great time – although Eleanor didn’t get to sleep until past 11! That actually isn’t too surprising, as the first time Eleanor had a sleepover at Lincoln’s house she was also up late into the night chatting with Lincoln’s Mom. Eleanor also had a school concert on Friday where she and her classmates sang three songs for the school and their parents. Eleanor did a great job of singing and playing the xylophone.

We did our annual gingerbread house building this weekend as well. Henry went with a new design where he built four smaller houses instead of one big one, and that seemed to work well. Eleanor stayed with the larger single house and despite not having the normal building tray her house also stayed together very nicely! On Saturday we had Eleanor’s soccer and Henry’s basketball, and they both showed improvement. Eleanor played goal for half the game which she really likes doing, and Henry really got the hang of man to man defense and also scored a few baskets and pulled in some rebounds. We finished off the day making cookies with Lala – yum!

On Sunday we went up to the botanic gardens for their annual train exhibit. It was Dad’s first time and he was pretty impressed. The kids also enjoyed all the miniature Chicago landmarks, and also running around a bit in the gardens.
