Hard to believe, but it is our last week in Chicago and we are hitting up all the final items on our bucket list. We did Buckingham fountain, the Art Institute and the Museum of Contemporary Art with our friends from school Lindsay and Julia and Lyla. Aunt Karen was also in town this week and we went to the Hancock Observatory and did some putt putt with her – such a fun visit! We wish we had more time to hang out and show her more of the city sights but our week was so packed with other activities.
Another day we rode the Metra train out to the Choo Choo Cafe and met Lala for a fun lunch delivered by a model train. This was Henry’s highest item on his bucket list so we were glad to be able to fit it in.
Henry hosted his friend Julia for a sleepover – he was super excited as it was the first time he had hosted a sleepover and he and Julia had a great time.
Eleanor was invited to a Holi Party by a friend from school – it is an Indian tradition that includes throwing dyed cornstarch all yourself and others. Eleanor had a blast and came home a light shade of purple!
Eleanor had a playdate with her friend Hannah, and the whole family headed up to Six Flags for a day of roller coasters and water rides. Eleanor liked the smaller roller coasters, but Henry wasn’t as interested in them. Both kiddos loved the water park, especially the lily pad ropes. Eleanor and Dad did a giant water slide funnel ride on a raft, which Eleanor described as scary but fun.
We also had a fun going away cookout with our friends Lincoln, Mason, Lindsay, Julie, Lyla and their families. We will miss them for sure!
And finally, Aunt and Uncle B surprised us with a fantastic going away party complete with lots of family from Michigan and Minnesota. Super fun!
