Surf Camp

We had a bit of a down week in the midst of a busy summer, so we decided to get the kiddos into surf camp! I think Mom and Dad may have been a bit more excited about the whole thing that the kiddos were, but they were sports about it and ended up having a good time. Both kids were able to stand up on the board a few times – usually at the tail end of a ride where they were mostly lying down or kneeling. I’ve got a few videos that hopefully will be up soon, but as always seems to be the case, I wasn’t filming for their best rides.

Also this week, Mom and the kids hit the zoo, and we also tried to go hiking at Torrey Pines, but it was too busy so we hit a smaller local canyon trail instead. The trail was only medium, and you could hear the noise of the highway the whole time, so it wasn’t quite the nature experience that we were hoping for, but the kids did enjoy taking their hiking polls out for the first time.

Oh yeah, we also welcomed the newest resident of our house, the robot vacuum cleaner that the kids have named “Bob”. They were fascinated for a day watching him bounce around the room, and rooting for him when he got stuck under the table between two chairs. He is nothing if not persistent however, and managed to extricate himself after a good 10 minutes of trying. We’ll see how well he can clean up Cheerios….
