This week Eleanor and Henry celebrated their first Christmas in San Diego. Henry kept commenting on how it didn’t feel like Christmas because it wasn’t snowing (he was unconvinced by us telling him that it wasn’t snowing in Chicago either), but it was different being able to do some fun warm weather activities on our days off from school. We also did an escape room that was Harry Potter themed – everyone had a good time but it was a good thing our guide gave us lots of hints or we would never have escaped. We decided to take the kids to a fondue restaurant for a fun change – and the chocolate desert was a big hit. Unfortunately, the main course wasn’t as good – Dad’s pepper and garlic seasoned meats contaminated the cooking oil for everyone else. Whoops! Now we know for next time. We also had lots of fun down time around the house with games, puzzles and some Minecraft time.
For Christmas Eve dinner we had tacos, burritos and guacamole, and for Christmas dinner we went with pasta and lasagna. Everyone was pretty excited about all their gifts – although Zapa wasn’t quite sure what to do with her new bed. Speaking of Zapa, she also did not appreciate her new Christmas pajamas – Dad managed to get one paw in before the hissing started and we figured we better get a picture quick before things really got ugly!
