Blue Waves and Monkey’s Birthday

This week we celebrated Monkey’s birthday with a celebratory doughnut. We actually had lots of treats this week, including cinnamon rolls and crescent rolls. We also moved Henry’s desk area down into the Lego room, so that he would have some more privacy, which I think he really appreciated. We also figured out how to get the electronic lock to his bedroom working – so now he has a keypad where he can enter in his “secret code” to unlock his bedroom door.

The big event this week was heading down to the beach at night to see the bioluminescent algae. It is caused by a red tide, and at night the algae glow an electric blue when agitated by waves. The pictures don’t really do it justice – it was really an amazing sight. The kids had a blast seeing it, plus they loved playing in the waves, right up until a big wave hit and soaked them head to toe. That marked the end of our viewing session – and by the next day the kids saw the humor in the situation.
