Wow, what a week. We managed to back in Henry’s first week home, visits from Grandma and Grandpa, Mimi and Papa, Aunt Lala, Uncle B, Stacey, Ben, Anna and Jackie, and Christmas all in one week. As a result, I believe that we set a new record for number of pictures in a week, at 272. Henry has been doing great adjusting to life at home, although he seems to have his days and nights a bit confused. He will sleep for 4-6 hours straight during the day, but only 2-4 at night. Hopefully we can get that straightened around soon. Eleanor is also adjusting well, and hasn’t shown too many signs of jealousy yet. She has really enjoyed unwrapping and playing with all of Henry’s presents – that probably won’t fly next year :) . Eleanor has been working on some new skills this week – she has added “Wheels on the Bus” to her list of duets – she sings the word “up” in the verse, “The people on the bus go up and down….up and down….”. She can also say “Bebe” which means baby, and that is how she refers to Henry. She has also learned to stack Duplo blocks on top of each other.
On Friday we went downtown for a visit with Santa. We had to wait about 30 minutes in a line outside, but Henry slept like a champ the whole time, and Eleanor was happy eating a cereal bar and staying cozy in her stroller. We didn’t put Henry in Santa’s lap, but Eleanor did, although she mostly cried. Santa was quite impressed with Henry, and said that he was the youngest one they had seen. Henry’s cord fell off, allowing us to give him his first proper bath. After that, his hair fluffed right up and it looked like we had styled it with gel.
Eleanor enjoyed opening all of her Christmas presents, and also enjoyed eating a pancake for the first time at Christmas breakfast. At Dinner, she had Pork for the first time, but unlike the pancake, it was quickly spit back into her bib. Cornbread also received the same treatment. We got to Skype with cousin Saul and wish him and Uncle J and Aunt Shawnee a Merry Christmas. Eleanor is very excited to play with Saul next time he visits and show him all the tricks she has learned since his last visit. Both Eleanor and Henry were very patient as we dressed them in a number of different outfits and had lots of photo sessions. The final session of the night was Henry wearing the outfit that I wore on my first Christmas.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
