Eleanor and Henry had a fun week trying to beat the late July heat. Our park trips were a bit shorter than normal – Henry in particular doesn’t love the heat. Henry’s first top tooth is finally making some progress after several weeks of anticipation. It has now broken through the skin and is just starting to show. His new trick is to imitate Mom’s “kissing face”, and he ends up making a funny sort of fish face. His favorite toys are currently the maraca and the bell and the train. He is really reaching for toys that he wants now, but hasn’t quite managed to roll over from back to tummy. He gets about half way around and gets stuck. His sitting is excellent – he can stay sitting indefinitely, with only the occasional face plants or back splats. Henry really enjoyed a trip to the office to visit Uncle B – the Angry Birds were a big hit.
Eleanor continues to work on her vocabulary – she is becoming quite a parrot. She will try to say just about anything that we say to her. We’ve been trying to get her to jump for the past week or so – she only has one more week until her second birthday, and apparently jumping is one of the milestones that they measure at age two. She likes it when I jump while holding her in my arms, but hasn’t mastered doing it by herself yet. She did blow bubbles with the bubble soap all by herself this week for the first time.
